For sure, if the surgical option is chosen to treat hyperthyroidism (Graves' disease), an overly aggressive thyroid ablation will lead to accidentally removing too many of the (usually) six parathyroid glands embedded within the thyroid tissue. Am currently researching the role of the pituitary feedback loop in generating hypocalcemia in the untreated hyperthyroid state (other than the incredibly rare event of a TSH-secreting pituitary adenoma).
Citrate blood causes hypocalcemia through the toxic substances that it has. This will cause blood transfusion to flow in large volumes.

actually hyperthyroidism causes weight loss while hypothyroidism causes weight gain. This is due to the hormones produced by the thyroid which regulate the storage of energy as fat in the body.
Hypocalcemia
hyperthyroidism is an acidic condition thus the reason why it causes the blood pH to become acidic.
Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) is a condition in which your thyroid glandproduces too much of the hormone thyroxine. Hyperthyroidism can accelerate your body's metabolism significantly. It causes what is called Grave's Disease.
Hypocalcemia can cause depression
Hyperthyroidism.
The prognosis for correcting hypocalcemia is excellent. However, the eye damage that may result from chronic hypocalcemia cannot be reversed.
Graves disease, hyperthyroidism
Calcium supplements are useful primarily to treat hypocalcemia. This is a nutritional issue that typically arises around pregnancy. In dogs, pregnancy hypocalcemia tends to be pre-parturient (before birth) and causes a tonic paralysis (rigid paralysis). In dairy cattle, hypocalcemia tends to be post-paturient (after birth) and causes a flaccid paralysis (floppy or loose paralysis). In both cases, careful administration of intravenous calcium can reverse the paralysis in a matter of hours.
