You should only take your prescription medications as prescribed by your physician. However, 1mg of xanax is still not that high of a dosage, so if you were to take another 0.5mg, I don't see any reasons why you would have any problems.

∙ 13y agoYes. Xanax is a medication that does not have to be taken on a daily basis. Taking Xanax regularly can cause your body to build up a tolerance. This tolerance results in the need to increase your dosage to get the desired effect which can lead to dependency. Xanax has a very high potential for dependency and should only be taken as prescribed by a doctor after a review of your symptoms.

∙ 11y agoNo. You just need to take when you feel a panic attack or whatever the reason you are on xanax. I have been taking for 12 years. I only take when needed. It usually states "take as needed" on the prescription.

You really shouldn't be on a prescription for Adderall and Xanax at the same time. It's possible that Adderall could potentiate the effects of the xanax. That means that if you mix them, you normal dose of Xanax could knock you out. It also depends on if you are taking Adderall because you have been diagnosed with ADD. The effects of Adderall are different for people who do not have ADD.

Prozac and Adderall will most likely have few interactive side-effects. Prozac is an SSRI, and acts to allow the brain more time to pick up and consume serotonin, the chemical believed to be responsible for regulation of emotion and a variety of other functions. There is a different TYPE of anti-depressant used less frequently known as an MAOI which acts in a very different way, and an MAOI is a known contraindication of Adderall patients, but Prozac is not. Adderall, which is a mixture of Levo and Dextro-amphetamine salts, acts primarily by increasing levels of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. Adderall doesincrease extracellular levels of serotonin in the brain, although the brain acts to maintain balance (homeostasis) and modifies chemical levels based on other factors. I take 20mg Adderall XR for ADHD every morning, and 0.5mg Xanax as needed for panic attacks (which are rare, I fill my Xanax script once or twice a year, if that).
