China is the most populous nation on earth. It also has one of the largest standing armies in the world. It is, however, unknown if China can defeat India in a war. If it was based on conventional warfare, the Chinese would have the advantage over India. Since both nations have nuclear weapons, however, no one can predict the outcome of a full scale war. Like Pakistan, China occupies 1/3rd of the disputed region of Kashmir. In the past, Chinese and Indian troops have exchanged fire over their territorial rights in the region. This is as close as India and China have come to war.

∙ 14y agoMy prediction is that there would be no winner, especially if these countries resort to using their nuclear weapons. In a non nuclear war, China would have the advantage of a larger army, but India has a large army too, and as the defender India would have the advantage of mountainous terrain between China and India. Casualties would be high on both sides, especially in the beginning before it became a static war of attrition.
