Yes. I'm currently suffering (and believe me, the key word is suffering) from a dry socket, a condition 5% of lower wisdom tooth extraction patients get as a result of the blood clot failing to form or to stay in place (in the socket of the removed tooth.) The pain goes without saying, but as an unexpected bonus, there is associated swelling of the lymph nodes on the left side of my throat which is so severe, I cannot swallow my pain medicine, or even the thick saliva that keeps gathering in my mouth. I can't take nourishment or drink water....I'll be going back to the oral surgeon on Monday to see if there's a treatment that will help me. After all, it doesn't take a genius to realize that without food and drink, you die. At any rate, YES, your lymph nodes can swell enough to prevent swallowing.
More info - Hi, I can't get an answer anywhere... so, you know how there are lymph nodes under the ear and behind the jaw; like where there are muscles? Okay, so I've had swollen lymph nodes there before and I got them about a month ago again. At the time they were painful and swollen. Now, I think they just stayed swollen. But they are hard as bone. So is there bone there that I could be feeling? Or are they actual hard, swollen lymph nodes? The right one is a little lower than the left side. They're below the mastoid process. I believe it's in the cervical lymph node region. Any thoughts?
I don't know,maybe swollen lymph nodes. cmf3225
Swollen lymph nodes are a sure sign of illness. It could be anything from excessive consumption of caffeine, to the flu, to a sign of cancer, so they should be examined by a doctor as soon as possible.

Infection cause increased lymphocyte prodution apex :)
I haven't yet had my wisdom tooth out, but I have had alot of pain with it. For the past few months a lymph node in my neck has been swollen. Both the dentist and the doctor has assured me that it is because of and infection in my wisdom tooth. maybe you have just got an infection from getting the tooth removed.
the lymph nodes help with healing. if your right leg has an infection then the lymph nodes will be swollen. they get swollen because the white blood cells carry bacteria to the lymph nodes to fight and kill the bacteria that are causing the infection. whenever there is an infection usually the white blood cells go to that area to help fight off the bacteria. so its going to be swollen and tender if there are more white blood cells in one spot than there usually is. all it is, is an infection of some kind being fought off. see a dr.
lymph capillary Lymph fluid is filtered in lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are along lymph vessels which that run along blood vessels. Lymph vessels draw in interstitial fluid (fluid between cells) and it them becomes lymph fluid. Lymph nodules are in connective tissue in place of high traffic and does not function as a filter because it's not along a lymph vessel.
Sure. Just because you are pregnant does not mean these glands quit working. Being swollen does not mean you are pregnant either. Lymph nodes swell because you have an infection not because you are pregnant. some infections can be serious while pregnant so get checked out by a doctor.
The left Supraclavicular lymph node, also known as Virchow's node, swells for many reasons. It can be from a bacterial or viral infection of the arms, lungs, neck, abdomen and breasts or can be an early warning sign of cancer. Either way, it is always best to consult a doctor immediately for treatment.
•Lymph nodes are masses of lymphatic tissue surrounded by a fibrous connective tissue capsule. •The function of lymph node is to produce lymphocytes and to filter and trap substances from inflammatory and cancerous lesions. •Special cells, called macrophages are located in lymph nodes which can phagocytose foreign substances. •When bacteria are present in the lymph nodes, they become swollen with collections of cells and their engulfed debris and become tender.
If your lymph nodes in your throat are swollen and your upper stomach hurts as if you did a million crunches but you did nothing, these symptoms could point to a condition called Mononucleosis. Mono is caused by a virus and this could be what is wrong with you. However, medical diagnosis is crucial so it is best that you see your doctor as soon as possible.
