Umm... that's a pretty obvious question. No. Guys should not wear bikinis. The closest thing to a bikini that guys can get is a speedo, and those should only be worn when competing for swim. Otherwise it's just gross.

Edit: It depends on where the guy is and what the styles are there, and how in-shape he is. For example, in Europe guys of all ages wear bikinis (I'm not saying they look good in them, but they do wear them) and in the USA really, seriously FIT guys in Miami often wear bikinis.

As a rule: look at what the men of your age and body type are wearing in the place you will be. If they're wearing bikinis...go for it. If they're wearing board shorts -- do NOT wear the bikini!! When in doubt, look up the Undergear catalogue online...and if you don't look like those models, DON'T wear what they're wearing.

As underwear, bikini briefs are very practical. They are cool (i.e., not sweaty) even in summer and even if you are being very active; there are no legs to ride up and get twisted and uncomfortable like boxer shorts; they give close and totally reliable support so that your bits don't slip out and get trapped in elasticated legholes (OWW!!) like they do with trunks; there should be (like Jockey Elance) no wide waistband to get folded over and uncomfortable, nipping the hairs on your belly. I've been wearing them for forty years and wouldn't wear anything else except to try out and make sure there isn't anything more comfortable around. An important, but less obvious and usually unspoken advantage is that they provide totally reliable protection against embarrassment in the event of being over-stimulated by an especially attractive woman. I'm dead straight, married and have kids. So there!

As swimwear, mens' bikinis were universal in the 50s and 60s and are still very common in Continental Europe - and insisted on at French public Swimming Pools for hygienic reasons. But in the USA and UK the fashion is now for big floppy beach or surfer 'long shorts'. However, mens' bikini swimwear, like Speedos and similarly cut brands, has all the advantages listed above, plus minimal water resistance and does not come off when you dive, which is why it is always worn by competition swimmers. There is a curious war against mens' Speedos by English women fashion journalists who always strongly deride them in the fashion press as "gay", but 'real' young women still go gaga over photos of Prince William and Olympic divers in their minimal Speedos. Nothing beats swimming naked, of course, but when that is inadvisable, I have always, from being a little lad, worn Speedos - minimal tan lines and maximum support. I would not wear anything else for the beach or pool, fashionable or not.
