Technically, no, but good luck finding someone who cares. Placing anything without a stamp in a mailbox (any mailbox) is a violation of federal postal law. The USPS considers your mailbox to be a part of their system, and placing a letter in it without a stamp is considered use of their system without paying for it. Also, some legal scholars think this is a violation of the tenant's privacy, since the mailbox is part of the apartment.
If the flyer left is rude or obnoxious, a judge might rule it a breach of quiet enjoyment. Otherwise, you'll be hard pressed to find a postal inspector who cares, or a judge who cares either.
Not in any state that I know of. Most state codes require that the landlord provide a mailbox, and locking it would be a breach of quiet enjoyment.
depends on whose mailbox your doing it too and plus a lot of ppl do that have you ever got pizza flyers
of course just put flyers in there mailbox and if they call u go babysit!!
My question pertains to whether or not it is the landlords responsibility to provide a mailbox key (or re-key) of the mailbox, if the previous tenant didn't turn it back. That's an extra expense that I do not believe I should incur.
No, only stamped mail delivered by the Postal Service can legally be placed in a mailbox.
You can get Kashi coupons from various grocery flyers. You can sometimes also get them from direct mail advertising pieces that arrive in your mailbox.
If the tenant has abandoned the property, moved and legally ended their tenancy, if the landlord owns the mailbox, he may return the mail to the post office UNOPENED. The landlord may NOT open or keep the mail. That is the recipient's property by Federal Postal Regulations. Once the tenant has legally vacated the property, the landlord has a right to the mailbox container, its security and use. The landlord, as the owner of the property does have the right to tell the post office the recipient may no longer receive the mail, HOWEVER, he must not destroy the mail or complete a forwarding order, etc.
You can get Gillette coupons from various grocery and drug store flyers. You can sometimes also get them from direct mail advertising pieces that arrive in your mailbox.
If you have a resident landlord, they may have a duplicate key. However, because it is illegal for them to use such keys, many will not keep them. Your alternatives are to have the landlord replace the lock, or to hire a locksmith on your own. If the lock has been changed on your mailbox while you are a paid tenant, you should contact your local postmaster or the Postal Inspection Service. This is almost always illegal.
try putting little flyers by people's doors. just dont put them in the mailbox because it is illeagal.
it is illegal. i would check with your mailman/woman and give the flyers to him/her to deliver if that's what youre trying to do
The last time I knew anything about it, absolutely NOTHING is allowed on or in a mailbox without postage or official exemption from postage (non-profit organization, congressman, etc.)/
