Do you mean the "E shaft"; the rotary equivalent of a crankshaft?

It rotates!
The front of the E shaft rotates the crank pulley, turning the water pump, alternator, A/C etc.
The rear of the E shaft is connected to the flywheel and clutch.

If you have an E shaft moving up and down, front to back or side to side, the bearings or thrust washer in that motor are bad.

How can pistons that move up and down generate electricity?

The reciprocating motion of the pistons is converted into rotary motion which is connected to a shaft connected to an electrical generator .

In a small steam boat engine what will make it to move fast-shaft or jet?

How does a car drive shaft operation?

when the car engine is start and the driver shift a gear, the power front the engine transfer to the drive shaft and its transfer the torque or power to the axle shaft the move a wheel.

What is a Universal joint or U-joint used for in vehicles?

Universal/U-joints are used to transfer power/torque from and engine to the drive-shafts and rear differentials. The U-joints allow the driveshaft and suspension to move thru it's normal range of motion, while still being able to transfer the power from the engine/transmission.

How can i tell if my slave cylinder is moving far enough?

Hey, what's up. What you can do is with you drive axles removed, put your transmission in neutral and spin the output shaft of your transmission. The shaft should move freely. Now put it in gear and it should not move freely. Have somebody push the clutch pedal in to disengage the transmission. Now spin the output shaft. If it spins freely, your good.

What is reverse shaft?

A Reverse Shaft is the shaft which rotates in the opposite direction of the engine driver shaft with the help of meshing of gears mounted on it to the gears mounted on engine driver shaft when reverse gear is applied. The reverse shaft allows the vehicle to move in reverse direction. Sanjay Singh Rathore (ME 3rd year) M.I.T.Mandsaur

How do cars move on gasoline?

Gasoline is injected into the cylinder of an internal combustion engine where it is ignited by a spark plug causing a piston to be pushed which in turn is converted into rotary motion by the crank shaft. The crankshaft then drives a transmission that drives the wheels of the car. That is a little simplified, but whole reports can be written on the subject.

What does gasoline provide for cars to move?

Gasoline is mixed with air as it enters the engine's combustion chamber and a spark ignites the highly flammable air/fuel mixture creating a chemical reaction (small explosion) that forces the piston down that creates a rotary motion via the crank shaft that then turns the transmission gears that provides your tires power to move

Are the Mazda rx8 interference engines?

The Mazda RX-8 is equipped with a Wankel rotary engine, which is a unique design that does not fall into the traditional categories of interference or non-interference engines commonly associated with piston engines. In a rotary engine, the design allows for the rotor to move without the risk of contact with other components in a way that would cause interference. Therefore, if a rotary engine fails, it generally does not lead to the catastrophic engine damage typical of interference piston engines.

What happend if the shaft drive breaks?

the drive shaft is connected with the wheels so if it brakes, you will be Abe to steer but the car wont move since the connection between the engine and wheel is lost.
