Eating too much sugar will make you fat. It may make your Diabetes worse. However, it's not going to make you depressed unless you start obsessing over being fat. The reason humans like sugar so much is that eating sugar triggers a release of dopamine in the brain. This is the "natural high" chemical which causes feelings of pleasure and satisfaction. Therefore, sugar causes the opposite of depression - too bad it only lasts for a few minutes!

Sugar, and products containing sugar, can be one of the causes of certain types of depression. In addition, an overgrowth of Candida Albicans can cause some types of depression (and many other symptoms). Things like sugar, antibiotics, yeast, fruit, alcohol, fermented products, Birth Control pills, the use of other hormones, especially immunosuppressants such as steroids, refined (processed) carbohydrates, and stress, can lead to or aggravate an overgrowth of Candida Albicans in certain people. Candida Albicans live in 80% of humans with no harmful effects but an overgrowth can result in a variety of problems and symptoms.
