Just the opposite. The cold war wasn't a war at all. It was a military stand-off; meaning two opponents staring at each other...each one waiting for the other one to make the first move. Total war was like WWII...atomic bombs. Limited wars like Korea and Vietnam were limited to conventional weapons only...no atom bombs.
