From personal experience, when sick with a cold or flu, I'm most of the time laying down. When I first stand up I mayexperience dizziness. And then it calms down, but other times it doesn't- generally I would not want to stand up for too long when sick.
I would say dizziness lasts as long as you are in the build up or peak of your flu, once you start feeling better it should go away.
It can, especially if your middle ear is affected.

I knew that it was not the flu because of the irregular heart beat and the hand tremors, but for me the pain was very bothersome until I was treated for the hyperthyroidism. Hope that helps.
i think the flu can cause those things

It will take a doctor examination and/or specific testing to make the determination, since the early symptoms of the flu and meningitis are similar. The hallmark symptoms of meningitis (except in toddlers and infants) are severe unrelenting headache, stiff neck, and high fever, usually with abrupt onset of the symptoms. The flu will almost always be accompanied by respiratory symptoms of cough, sneezing, and runny nose. The flu may cause general body and muscle aches, but usually not the classic severe neck stiffness and pain that most often accompanies meningitis and can prevent even the slightest head movement without pain.
