Well, the heat does increase the atmospheric temperature a bit, but a more important aspect is the electricity used.

Most of the world's electricity is generated by burning coal and other fossil fuels like oil and natural gas. Burning fossil fuels releases the carbon dioxide which has been buried deep under the ground for millions of years. So it is adding to the normal amount of CO2 which is in the atmosphere from the carbon cycle.

This extra CO2 is adding to the runaway greenhouse effect which is warming the planet globally.

This is why we are asked to cut down our energy use, turn off appliances at the wall and use low energy lighting, among many other things.

How do electric appliances contribute to global warming?

Most electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This releases carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas which is causing global warming. So the use of any electrical appliance contributes to global warming.

Which ways of producing electricity contributes to global warming?

Any electricity generated by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) contributes to global warming. Renewable energy does not contribute to global warming (except in a small way during equipment manufacture).Any electricity generated by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) contributes to global warming. Does a refrigerator contribute to global warming?

Yes it does contribute to global warming beacause of the coldness in it

Why do appliances produce carbon dioxide?

Appliances don't exactly produce carbon dioxide (CO2), but they are responsible for CO2 emissions. Appliances run on electricity, and most electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This burning emits CO2, a greenhouse gas that is causing global warming.

How does using a stove contribute to global warming?

If the stove is powered by:Electricity, most electricity is generated now by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), which add carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.Gas, this is some kind of fossil fuel.Wood, this may not contribute to global warming if the wood is sustainably grown.Solar (or any renewable energy) then it makes no contribution to global warming.

How does Mexico contribute to global warming?

Mexico does contribute to global warming. It does release greenhouse gases.

How will switching to electric and not gas appliances not help stop global warming?

Because most electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This releases the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) which is contributing to global warming. Gas appliances also release CO2, but not as much as coal or oil, so gas is a slightly better way to go.

Which myth do scientists think contributes to global warming the most?

A myth is an incorrect belief. No myths contribute to global warming.A myth is an incorrect belief. No myths contribute to global warming.

Does nuclear waste contribute to global warming?

No

Does humidity contribute to global warming?

Humidity does contribute to global warming, because water vapor is also a greenhouse gas, just as carbon dioxide it.

How does electricity contribute to major problems such as pollution and global warming?

Most electricity is generated by the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This releases carbon dioxide, causing global warming as well as sulphur and nitrous oxides which pollute the atmosphere before turning into acid rain.

How do power stations contribute to global warming?

Power stations do contribute to global warming, as the more electricity we use the more global warming will develop to the earth. And gradual the earth will be destroyed because of us humans.
