Generally speaking it does not cool down. Heat is a very stubborn scientific property. When we study heat we look at a few key points:

  1. Heat transfers
  2. Heat radiates
  3. Heat rises
  4. Heat is pure energy
  5. Heat gradually fades when the source is removed.

In a Volcano all the magma is at a consistent temperature, that is it's in it's purest energy state when it's constant. If an object falls inside or the magma comes out (lava) the object or lava will eventually transfer heat to near by objects thus cooling itself down or equalizing it's temperature.

Let's look at an example:

If you bring a pan of water to a rapid boil (temperatures are at or exceed 212F or 100C) and add a cup of cold water, the boiling will stop as you've changed the temperature of the water. Hot + Cold = Warm. Now, If you're to remove it from it's heating source the temperature the water is at would remain constant before dropping. If you're to continue the source of heat the water would continue to raise in temperature before returning to a boil.

The same property applies to Volcano's. Unless you add a massive amount of colder fluid the temperature of the magma would remain constant. Generally an object that falls in (stone, metal, etc) would not cool the magma. The magma would instead transfer or radiate the heat from itself to the object that came in contact thus changing the objects temperature not itself.

Can the magma in the volcano cool down?

not unles the volcano has become extinct ad there is a tiny bit of magma left inside the volcano. It cant cool down though if the volcao is still active bevause it wll just keep building up and building up on tension and heat until finally the volcano will erupt again.

What does magma need to do for a rock to form?

Magma is basicaly the same as lava, except magma is still in the volcano, when magma has come out of the volcano, it has become lava.

What is inside the volcano to erupt?

Magma is the substance inside volcanoes. If the melted igneous rocks are inside a volcano, it is called magma. When the substance exits the volcano, it is called lava. When you see fire, that is when a lava flow travels down a mountain and reacts with other mediums such as houses.

Where is magma found in a volcano?

A volcano does not make magma, magma is the motlen rock underneath The Earth's crust. A volcano is an opening in the crust that allows the magma to be released to the surface. Magma is made by pressure and heat on rocks deep within The Earth.

If lava is to hot in a volcano can it burn the volcano down?

This is a silly question...No! Magma (not lava) can melt (not burn) and include some material sorrounding it but could never melt an entire volcano as it would cool down and become solid in doing so.

Does magma creates intrusive rock cool down quickly slowly?

Yes, magma intrusions stays inside the earth. and this goes relatives slowly.

What is intrusive?

Intrusive activity is when magma in the mantle or crust starts to cool and crystallize. Igneous rock forms from the crystallization.

When the magma flows down the side of the volcano we call it?

lava!

What happens to lava when it hits earth's surface?

The magma inside a volcano will ooz out running down the sides. Eventualy the lava will harden into ignous rock.

An opening that leads from the crater of a volcano down to pools of magma?

a vent

What is an opening that leads from the crater of a volcano down to pools of magma?

How magma turns into lava?

its just lava when it reaches earth's serface, its magma when its still inside Molten rock on the surface is called lava. It is cooler than magma, and quickly becomes solid. This is because it is much cooler on the earths surface than inside the earth. As magma rises it starts to cool, as you go up the volcano it gets cooler by 15 degrees every 1 km. so when the magma gets to the top of the volcano it is cooled down quite a bit and turns into lava
