Can the state of Texas pick up a robbery case and make it aggravated after getting to prison?
In Texas the crime of aggravated robbery is considered a Felony in the 1st degree. Jail time for aggravated robbery in Texas is anywhere from 5 to 9 years.
Robbery in Texas is a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. If a deadly weapon was used during the robbery, it can be upgraded to aggravated robbery, which carries a more severe punishment.

yes I have a friend who is on parole for life.
There is no way to know. It can be UP to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. Using a bb gun would still make it robbery because it would reasonably "place another in fear of imminent bodily injury or death". But it would not be aggravated robbery because a bb gun is not a deadly weapon.
Anything that can legally be admitted that would convince a juror that someone has committed a crime.
There has been no update to the aggravated robbery statute since 1994. At the bottom of each section on the state of Texas penal code site, it will list all dates that an act was enacted or amended. the last entry for aggravated robbery is 1994 (when the change became effective). Acts 1973, 63rd Leg., p. 883, ch. 399, Sec. 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1974. Amended by Acts 1989, 71st Leg., ch. 357, Sec. 2, eff. Sept. 1, 1989; Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 900, Sec. 1.01, eff. Sept. 1, 1994.
The criminal offense of robbery is a felony everywhere.
Texas has a variety of limitations based on the crime. Robbery is set at 5 years. Misdemeanors have a limitation of 2 years to bring charges. Being absent from the state will toll the statute if it applies.
