Check your TPS TPS = throttle position system
When the TPS sensor is disconnected from the car in idle, there would be delayed acceleration.
either the throttle position sensor (TPS), or a vaccum leak
mostly the tps or throttle positioning sensor. it would be a good idea to change that
Yes, and a sure symptom of a bad TPS is rough idle. You might also consider that a dirty/clogged air filter, or dirty/fouled spark plugs will also cause excess fuel use.
the TPS (throttle position sensor) controls the idle.
idle speed controll or tps throttle sensor
torque converter lock-up not disengaging? tps bad spot on idle position
Check/ replace the TPS if the idle is up and down.
A weak battery or a bad throttle position sensor can also cause erratic idle. If it turns over slow, the battery needs replaced. If you tap the tps and the rpm's change , the tps is bad.
Could be the TPS, it will cause it to idle high and low and make the car become sluggish, but a vehicle will run without one, but it will run very rough.
If the idle is too high, it is likely the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). If repeatedly stopping an restarting the vehicle solves the issue (temporarily) then the TPS is the problem.
