torque converter lock-up not disengaging? tps bad spot on idle position
If a car shakes at stop light like it is going to shut off, this is probably caused by the AC compressor. To check on this, turn of the climate control and see if it goes away.
Really depends on model year, and what specifically the light is. If it's the stop engine light, then a fault has been detected which will cause the engine to shut down. On older trucks with mechanical engines, a stop light typically meant that inadequate air pressure is in the system.
Stop, pull over, shut off your engine, and call for assistance. You can cause serious damage by overheating your car.
check motor mounts
An internal combustion engine needs fuel, oxygen, and an ignition source. If any are missing, it would stop running.
I was told by my cousin who is an auto mechanic that dirty oxygen sensors would cause that problem. You can either replace them or you can wash them.
A broken or out of adjustment brake light switch.
It would be against the law for a motor manufacturer to fit a light which could cause the brakes to fail.
Could be electrical or wiring, or it can b that the light is blown. Try tapping on it and see if something happens. My 97 would stall at about every 3rd or 4th stop light, then my alternator died and when replaced the stalling stopped. Must have been too low output at low rpm so not enough spark for engine.
brake booster has probably gone bad.
most common cause is a burned out light bulb, if not the bulb, check fuses and stop light switch
Stop as soon as you can at a safe place and shut the engine off.
