Yes ... But it requires a working transponder key, the head of it actually .. Here's what I would do .. Get a good mechanical copy of your key made by a locksmith. Have them cut it to code and make sure it works. Take your old transponder key and cut or break the shaft but do not damage the plastic head. Remove the lower cover from the column and tape, velco, glue the head of that key next to the antennae on the skim module (the round ring where the key goes in). Reinstall the lower cover and you are done. Now a mechanical key will start the vehicle. If you don't have any keys then you'll have to bite the bullet and pay to have the keys made with the chips in them. It's part of the anti theft system and cannot be romoved.

The hole in the black plastic head sometimes. If it has a transponder the hole is offset to one side and thick plastic. Non transponder usually has a thinner black head with hole in center top of key.

This is not for the rule abiding, uptight individual, so as far as the rest of the world goes.. if you have one key to your transponder key vehicle. Simply take the key hide it under your dash on the driver side in any fashion you feel comfortable with, but, of course, have a key cut that matches it(regular key) your computer will pick up the transponder under the dash and the $3 key will start it. Your other question will be "can people still my car now" yes, they can... will they.. NO, probably not. The reason for that is, that thieves know what they are stealing. they know your car has a transponder on it and won't even try.. they will move on to the next car. Can you bypass the transponder? NO. once again.. a thief knows this...

You need a transponder key in the ignition switch, not under the dash. The sensor is located near the ignition switch and it has a very short range of sensitivity.
