Yes. It happens all the time.

The are many people who are struck by railroad trains every year. Some are in cars and some are walking on the tracks or near the tracks when something on the tracks is hit by a train and flies off and hits them. Some are killed by falls off railroad bridges and trestles. Alcohol is often a factor . Some few are killed while they are passengers or stowaways on a train. One thing is certain- if you stay away from the train tracks, you will never be hurt by a train.

However, the fact that trains are able to cause so much devastation, is the very reason why they are so highly regulated.
