Yes!! I bought a box of Twinkies sometime in August 2013 and they had an expiration date of September, 9 2013, if I recall. I ate most of them, fine, over about a month or more period -- even after the expiration date, since they seemed OK. Then yesterday I had four left in the box and to my Horror they ALL had mold on them. One was a little green spot, the rest had a faint black residue. I was disgusted since I just had eaten one a few minutes earlier with no mold, yet wondered what nasty stuff I might have ingested and just had not seen. I thought of bringing them back to the store to complain, but they were two weeks past expiration so I probably had no basis to complain. Still, I am surprised they got bad that soon. They are quite moist, though -- sometimes too moist -- so maybe it was the moisture. Still, it is scary. Inspect your Twinkies!
Yes. Seen it with my own 2 eyes.
Technically, its sorta never ending. After 21 days, it wont be as fresh, but it wont get moldy or rotten.
12 i do believe
Twinkies really are just what they say - cream-filled cakes. They are made of cake-type batter (all the recipes are secret - every science program I have ever seen about making Twinkies has said the company will not share exact proportions of ingredients), baked in an oven, and the filling is injected in through three holes in the "bottom" (actually the top during baking) of the cake. Look on a Twinkie package and you will see an expiration date - the company is very concerned that their cakes be eaten while still fresh.
Twinkies were invented in 1933.
Any kind of carbohydrate can be fermented into alcohol, but this happens only under certain conditions that are favorable for the growth of yeast; Twinkies still in their wrapper would never turn into alcohol.
