The role of water in the Global CLimate Change process is very complex. Water vapour is a greenhouse gas, so it is part of the greenhouse gas content of the atmosphere.
Water has several impacts on the climate:
* As vapour it causes heat absorption, when it condenses into clouds it reflects sunlight back into space (increases the Earth's albedo) * As snow or ice, water reflects more sunlight than open water cooling the Earth. As open water it both absorbs heat and warms the oceans affecting the flow of Earths ocean currents, which in turn affect continental climates. * The warmer it gets, the more water there is in the atmosphere. This causes the snowfall and precipitation to increase.

∙ 12y agoNo, the water cycle (and the carbon cycle) support the natural greenhouse effect. This is where the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere (including water vapor) capture the sun's heat as it radiates up from the surface of the earth. The natural greenhouse effect is not causing global warming. That is being caused by the enhanced greenhouse effect.
