No doing this will kill the good bacteria in the tank and end up killing all your fish guaranteed. Good bacteria grows on your gravel and in your filter that breaks down the harmful waste products of your fish into a harmless substance. This bacteria keeps your fish alive. You also never do full water changes because it also kills the bacteria.
The answer is NO. you may not add faucet water to a fish tank. As far as chlorine water goes for a fish tank, a fish tank's water should have as little chlorine as possible. Chlorine is a toxic chemical, not only to fish but ourselves as well. The only time you can add faucet water (Which in fact contains chlorine) is when there is no fish in the tank. You have to add water conditioner to the water and let it run for approximately 24-48 hours before adding fish. Although I do not recommend adding fish before letting a tank establish for about one or two weeks. Water needs time to establish the proper PH to be safe for fish or anything else. Remember to check your tank's PH regularly and adjust it as necessary.
Yes, properly chlorinated water is safe to drink.
If the water is properly chlorinated, there is no risk in drinking it.
Chlorinated water needs to be treated before use in any fish tank. It's not just chlorine that's added to tap water that's harmful, but chloramines as well.
Chlorinated water is dangerous to fish. If you want to keep them in a tank, the water has to set for 24 hours before placing fish in it. You can purchase the chemical at any pet store that will remove chlorine instantly. Trout also have to have cold water to survive. That makes it difficult to keep them as pets.
An hour after the water is being cleaned by the filter than its safe to put them in.
No, dry clay is not safe to put in a fish tank because clay is made up of chemicals and when you put that substance of chemicals into water the chemicals diffuse (spread) and that could harm the fish. But if you don't have any fish in the tank its OK to put hard clay in it.
Yes, your betta water conditioner should be a standard water conditioner that can be used in any fish tank.
when the water starts to get dirty if it is a bit dirty then leave it when it starts to get really dirty clean the filter and your fish tank
No. The different metals react with the water, and the byproducts are poisonous to fish. Only use natural rocks, glass or plastics
if you can live with the smell
Bottled water is missing many of the minerals that fish need for their bodies. If your tap water is safe for you to drink, then it is safe for the fish provided that you use the recommended dosage of water conditioner per the instructions on the side of the bottle; you can buy this at a pet store.
Salt Water Fish
It would be better to use Prime or Amquel+
A recently set-up fish tank will gro through a cycle. Your water will cloud up due to the bacteria in your water trying to regulate itself. Nothing needs to be done as it will run it's course in about a weeks time and then it should be safe for fish.
