If you meet Social Security disability determination guidelines, you can work and continue to receive your monthly benefit check as long as your average monthly earnings do not exceed what SSA considers Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA). In 2010, SGA is $1,000 per month for most disabilities, and $1,640 for blindness.

The Social Security Administration discourages people from attempting to work during the first 24 months following disability approval, because doing so may cause your case to be reevaluated and may result in termination of disability status.

How old does my spouse have to be to get a check from my Social Security?

If you and your spouse have been married for at least 10 years, she will be eligible for a Survivor Social Security Benefit monthly check if you are deceased, and if she is age 62. But if she is disabled, she may qualify to draw it at an earlier age. You can phone your social security office or go online to be sure though, which I recommend.

If you get social secuty only income do they check ever so often to see if you are still diabled and send you to a doctor?

Yes they do check to make sure that your disability is still active, but they don't send you to the doctor, however, they do request your most recent doctor's records and ask your doctor whether or not you are still disabled. I am a recipient of social security and they haven't checked with my doctor yet, but I was told by my caseworker that they will check things out and make sure my condition has not changed. They do that to make sure that the patient is not being deceitful about their condition and to make sure that if you are 100% disabled, should they give you more or less money, all of this is for security purposes. Social Security are real strict about disabled people, and they DO NOT allow any deceitful answers or fraud when applying for disability, they check your health background and will often DENY you, if they don't feel like you should be considered disabled by the state. I hope I have answered your question, if I haven't, then you may want to call your local Social Security office and ask them.
