Almost certainly not, although it depends upon your diocesan bishop. When I was undergoing my selection procedure for ordination, one of the forms that I had to complete involved my financial situation. If I was in a great deal of debt, or if I was bankrupt, this would have a real bearing on my calling to priesthood. The church sees it thus: if you cannot control your own finances in that you end up having major financial problems, this is seen as morally a problem and could lead to even further problems down the line. If, however, you have cleared any bankrupcy, or you have a debt (such as a credit card) that is easily manageable, then the Church sees no problem in that. However, the bottom line is that any permission to be ordained is at the discretion of the diocesan bishop. If you are in any doubt, you should contact the Diocesan Director of Ordinands who will give you the necessary information. He or she can be found either by asking your own vicar, or by contact through the website of the appropriate diocese.

How do you become a wedding minister?

The most obvious way is to become ordained in a recognized church, but not alot of people are cut out for that kind of commitment. Here in Canada, you can become liscenced by the province to perform weddings, but I'm not sure what the process is. You can become ordained by an online church and get licensed that way. On the civil side, you can apply to become a justice of the peace.
