Best Answer

Yes, I put a slight bend (approximately 20 degrees) to the sensor rod to insure that the tip was positioned better in the pilot light. Be sure not to crack the ceramic insulation. The result was a more reliable ignition to the burners.

What is a wing top or flame spreader and how is it used?

A wing top is an accessory that can be used with a Bunsen burner to provide a broad flat fan flame, similar to that of a fishtail burner. It is often used to bend glass as it spread out the heat over a larger area, making it more uniform.See the Web Links to the left for a picture.

How does flame detector works?

A flame detector is a fire protection device, which detects the flame in the place where it is fixed and issues an alarm thereby alerting nearby people to the danger of fire. In most of the manufacturing companies, furnace flame detector is used in order to detect and prevent fire. Flame detector responds either to radiant energy visible to the human eye or outside the range of human vision. Most flame detectors work either by optical flame detector or flame ionization detector but some of them use combination of both detectors.Flame detector works at specific ranges, which uses optical sensors to record the incoming radiation at a particular wavelength. The energy radiated from the flame is electromagnetic radiation and it can be identified at various spectral ranges like UV, IR and VIS. Depending upon the sensor used there are number of flame detectors available they are infra red flame detectors, ultra violet flame detector, UV/IR, IR/IR and tripe IR spectral band detector. Flame detector has a cone of vision that defines the effective capability of sensing fire. It is inefficient for slow fires however it responds faster for rapidly developing fire like combustible gas and liquid. It is available in different shape and size. What is a wrought pipe bend?

wrought pipe bends means straight pipe bend using rotary draw pipe bender. or pipe bend by any method

Which type of flame is used for high carbon steel?

Most cutting and welding is done with a neutral flame.

What is 5D in bend pipe?

The RADIUS of a 5D pipe bend is actually what is 5 times the nominal diameter. So if you had a 10" diameter pipe, the radius of the centerline of the bend would be 50 inches.

What does a Flame sensor in a hot surface ignition furnace do?

It tells the furnace that it lit... Hence the name Flame Sensor.

What is the purpose of a flame sensor?

A flame sensor is a program used to detect "flame" on various blogs or comment boxes. Various Websites may use these sensors to dish out trolls or other internet vermin. On the other hand a flame sensor is also a device used in machines that are subject to very high temperatures. For example, a flame sensor is standard in many home ovens. So this in fact is a very useful safty feature.l

How does a flame sensor works?

A flame sensor is a safety mechanism installed on gas furnaces. It is located directly between the burners and the gas supply. When your gas kicks on, the flame sensor MUST detect a flame. This safety mechanism is to prevent your house from filling up with un-lit gas. Even if your burners are igniting, if your Flame Sensor is dirty (covered in carbon from typical use) it will fault out, thus shutting off the furnace over and over. If this is the case, your furnace will kick on every 2 minutes (because the thermostat tells it your house is too cold) and then will shut off after 5 or 10 seconds as a result of the Flame Sensor Fault.

How do you clean a FLAME SENSOR?

Clean it using steel wool.

How does a flame sensor work in home furnaces by using a metal rod in the flame?

Its not a flamesensor its a pilot generater it generates a small amound of electricity to open the main valve that way if your pilot light goes out it wont let gas escape and couse a potentian explosion The above answer is not accurate unless you have a standing pilot model furnace. Then the "flame sensor is called a thermocouple, much different than the flame sensors used in Direct Spark Ignition, hot-surface and intermitant ignition furnaces. The flame sensor uses the flame of the main burner to prove flame at the circuit board by measuring conductivity to ground through the flame.

On a gas furnace what energizes the blower motor in heat mode?

flame sensor

Seguence of operation for a direct ignition gas furnace?

If the furnace is direct ignition, The HSI or spark ignites the flame. A flame sensor passes current through the flame, if current is present the main.

How does flame rectification works in a gas furnace?

AC voltage(at least 90vac) pass through the flame sensor and the ionization of the flame creates or rectifies the voltage to DC and a small microamp that can be measured with a meterl.

How do you test for sodium ions and potassium ions when both are present?

Get a wire. Bend it into a ring and put a few crystals of your solid on it. Do a flame test using a Bunsen burner. Potassium will give a violet flame and Sodium ions will give a Yellow flame.

Why does sensor light turn on?

To hold light to bend ligh make happy peole laugh

Your gas heater is blowing cold air The furnace flame will turn on for about 10 seconds then shut off It only turns on about once every 5 minutes Any ideas?

Probably the flame sensor.
