Women can bleeding during pregnancy because the old blood left from their last period can be released from her vagina and cause light bleeding. Also a women may bleed when she has conceived and this is called implantation bleeding. The bleeding is rarely ever heavy and like a normal period.

∙ 16y agoBleeding during pregnancy is a threatened miscarriage. You need to go to the Emergency Room straight away to determine if you're having a miscarriage. Any bleeding during pregnancy can be a sign of a threatened miscarriage, however MOST miscariagges take place in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. If you are further along in the pregnancy and bleeding, there are other possibilities, one is abruptio placenta which is a partial or complete tearing lose of the placenta from the lining of the uterus. Another is placenta previa which is where the placenta is partially or completley covering the opening to the uterus (the cervix). Cervical cancer can also casue bleeding during pregnancy and although rare must be considered. There are numerous other causes, but these are some of the more common.
