HOWEVER!!!! They have licensed their technology to a US company named Persu (they have a website up and running). According to Persu they are expected to begin delviery of the vehicles sometime before the end of 2012 (some answers in their forum state late 2011). Early production will be extremely limited but if successful it will be ramped up.
They are estimating the price to be less than $25K per unit which I think could be doable.
I personally cannot wait to get my hands on one.

One can buy a Toyota Innova visiting any Toyota dealer in US and Canada. When one read reviews of the car online, one would find them very positive. One can also buy the car through a private sale, but one has to be careful of rip offs.
