You can get seasonal flu shots from a Pharmacist at a drug store without a physician's prescription in the US. The vaccine is not available in quantity to individuals over the counter.
There is no vaccine yet for the 2009 Swine Flu (Influenza A, Novel H1N1) available. The drug manufacturers who usually make vaccines now have some of the virus sent to them by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and have begun the process of developing vaccines for this strain of the virus. They anticipate having this available for use in the US by the next seasonal flu season. It may also be available for use in the Southern Hemisphere during their flu season this summer. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) will be working with the manufacturers to approve the safety and efficacy of the vaccines once developed and put into human trials.

Because people are scared to get the flu and think that the flu vaccine will halp them. The government makes too much money off of them to stop selling the vaccines even though they are for last years strand of the flu and don't prevent you from getting the flu that is currently going around during flu season. The common cold is easy to get rid of with over the counter medicine but if the government can sell a special vacine to make more money they will. Not trying to sound anti government.
The flu vaccine is recommended for children and the elderly but nobody is forced to get it. Whether or not to get a flu vaccine is a personal choice.
Unless they have a high fever, yes and they probably should have one because they are sick. However, there are a few circumstances when the vaccine should not be given. See the related question below about who should not get a flu vaccination.
how long is flu vaccine good for if left out of the refrigerator
no
You are not immune to Influenza. Even getting the yearly flu vaccine is no guarantee that a person won't get the flu. You can get the flu but it won't be as bad as it could be if you hadn't received the flu vaccine.
None. If you are already sick with the flu, a flu shot for that type of flu will not help you. It is a vaccine to preventthe specific viral infection, not a cure or treatment. However, since the seasonal flu vaccination in the US is trivalent (contains vaccine for 3 different types of flu), it is still good to get the vaccination even if you have already become sick with one of the types of flu in the vaccine, you still need the vaccine to prevent the other two types. And the type you have may not even be one of the three in the vaccine at all.You can get the vaccination as long as you do not have a fever. But waiting until you are completely over the current infection is a good idea, so you can rest in bed to get over the infection as quickly as possible, and so you don't pass it on to someone else while you are out in public.
