Neomycin Sulfate Polymyxin B (also known as Maxitrol) is only available with a prescription.
no
Polymyxin-b sulfate is an antibiotic that is primarily used for resistant Gram-negative infection.
My vet prescribed Fougera brand Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sulfates and Bacitracin Zinc Ophthalmic Ointment USP for use in my dog when she had an eye infection.
No its a derivate of fungi and is come under antibiotics which have cidal effect. It binds to small ribosomal subunit and interfere with protein synthesis by directly inhibiting synthesis. e.g. Neomycin, kanamycin, gentamicin. Its a broad spectrum drug
No. Neosporin contains a mixture of three antibiotics: bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B.
My dog had an eye surgery, do I apply neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates bacitracin zinc opthalmic ointment usp to the eyelid where a growth was removed or to the eyeball itself?
yes
Polymyxin B does not have penicillin in it, I just called my local pharmacy to ask that question and the answer is no. I should note, however, that the reason I called my pharmacist was because I used a topical ointment that contained Polymyxin B and had a very severe allergic reaction immediately after applying the ointment. I have anaphylaxis to penicillin and thought it may contain penicillin, but the pharmacist tells me it does not. He did advise me to go see my allergist again as I may have developed an allergy to another antibiotic but assured me there is no penicillin in Polymyxin B. Can't help with Neomycin, sorry!
how many hours apart you have to take neomysin and polymyxin b sulfates and hydrocortisone otic supension usp if you have to take it three times a day
It contains sulfate, which is 1 sulfur molecule and 4 oxygen molecules.
Kittens can have polymyxin B sulfate eye drops. However, it is not recommended that these drops be given without first speaking to your veterinarian who will take things like the kitten's age and allergy history into consideration.
