If the ac has a belt of it's own you can just remove, but remember when ac is off, and not engaged it is freewheeeling and ther is no drag on the engine unless there is something wrong with bearing or clutch. If you have 1 belt for all, of course you can't remove it.
Bypass pully...ebay.com
Also check the water pump, alternator and tensioner pulleys.
You realy can't. If your intention is not to power the A/C unplug the wire that connects to the electric clutch. It should be right behind the pully.
You need a Z7 Clutch puller.
The bearing lets the belt pully free wheel on the compressor input shaft that the clutch is attached to.
The AC clutch is essentially and electromagnet. There is a coil sitting inside of the rotating pump pully. It does not rotate , it is mounted to the front of the pump. The plate visable at the front of the pump is attached to the main shaft of the pump mechanism. When current passes through the coil it creates a strong magnetic field attracting the front plate, "clutch plate," to the face of the rotating pully. This causes the pully to rotate the clutch plate resulting in the rotating of the pump mechanism and creating the pressure differential that is used to cool the car.
you cant. the top side of the belt will rub on the a/c pully
I had this on a 90 3800 engine and used a bypass pully from auto zone for $40 bucks same size as the compresser pully but you have otpull the compresser out first and install it in the same three mounting holes using the same three bolts.
yes there is a idler pully and bracket that gose in place of the compressor a little hard to find
Unfortunately the Taurus needs the AC Pulley to turn the water pump you CAN get a bypass pully for 30 bux and use the same belt and routing but the shorter no AC belt will not work on that engine
No, if you do you will have no power steering. You could not steer this vehicle with the power steering pump bypassed.
The only way you can do this that I am aware of, is to by an after market pully for the vehicle, you have to unplug and remove the A?C compressor, and bolt the new pully/bracket to the engine blok in place of the compressor.
