If your pool water has chlorine, then it might kill your grass.
If it's a small amount of chlorine, it is unlikely to harm the grass. Even drinking water has some chlorine in it. When it was time to replace the water or simply empty the baby pool, we used to dump the water from ours into our yard; it never harmed the yard. However, we normally added no chlorine and only occasionally added a *small* amount of chlorine to the baby pool.

∙ 12y agoYou can. There should be no problem chemically unless you are on a well with a high level of metals or minerals. If you have municipal water, be aware that many areas charge you a sewage charge based on your water use. In many cases it can be less expensive to have a larger pool filled via a water truck.

∙ 13y agoYes, you can, if a hose bibb (faucet) is plumbed into the pump discharge line. This can be useful for pumping water out of a swimming pool. Attach the hose, turn on the pump and ensure that it is circulating water, then open the hose bibb.

∙ 12y agoIt depends on your municipality. Many local water departments will give you sewage cost credit for the water you use when filling your pool. Some areas do have a small fee for the filing of the exemption paperwork. Some areas will loan or rent you a meter to connect to a local fire hydrant which measures the water you are using and charges accordingly, which is still less than the cost of filling from a hose with municipal water and paying the sewage. I recommend you call your local water department and ask them about their policy.

Can you connect a garden hose to a inground swimming pool pump?
You can probably find the plumbing to step down to the right size but the pool pump will have more water flow then a garden hose can safely handle. Your going to ruin either the pump or yourself.

You connect the discharge side of the pump with PVC pipe to the inlet side of the filter or back wash valve. For above ground pools this is usually done with a section of ribbed hose.
Is there a pump that will convert the garden hose attachment to a recycled water supply from the pool?
From the question I'm not sure if you mean the hose bib that is attached to most pool plumbing for draining. If so that hose bib will discharge water only while the pool's pump is running. The water comming out would not be potable, and not very good for plants. I can't think what else it would be good for.
How do you switch the pump over when you want to vacuum the pool?
Normal procedure for vacuuming. With pump running,connect vac hose to vac head and lower into to pool (on vac pole), filling hose with water (push hose into water, hand over hand, to fill). When you get to the end of the hose you should see it full of water. Connect end of hose to skimmer - remove basket and push ed of hose into suction hole in skimmer. How do you drain a Doughboy above ground pool?
There are several easy ways to do drain an above ground pool like a Doughboy: 1. Siphon: Take a garden hose and throw about half of it into the pool. Hang the other half over the side of the pool and place the end where you want the water to drain. Use your mouth and suck on the "dry" end until water from the pool flows out. It should maintain a slow steady stream until the water level is down to a few inches in depth. You can also use a larger hose (like the one you might have for vacuuming the pool); the water will drain faster but you won't be able to get the water level as low as a smaller hose. 2. Small Pump: There are small electric pumps that fit garden hoses available for $20-$30 at most home centers. These types of pumps will lower the water down down to an inch or so. 3. Pool Pump: Use your pool pump. Connect a length of pool vacuum hose to the intake side of your pump and connect a second hose to the output side of the pump. Turn on your pool pump and let 'er rip. Remember you may have plug the skimmer/sidewall holes or lower the pool level 6"-12" inches via siphoning first to allow you to disconnect the intake and output lines of the pump to the pool. I didn't like Tom Stones answer as it would require that you have the ability to suck the chrome off a bumper hitch. If it was me I would fill garden hose before I threw half of it in the pool. Try it Tom --- it will work a lot faster. Harry ** Harry. LOL. I, in turn, don't like the #3 answer. It could be detramental to the regular pool pump. If you are pressed for time, rent a professional type sump pump. You can buy either a hose that is used for this purpose - at a pool store - called a discharge hose - blue in color and comes in 2" or 1.5". Or you can use a vac hose or couple 2 or 3 vac hoses together to reach to your terminal point. It will pump out a good sized pool pretty much over nite. k
