Circumcision is a religious rite or a cultural and right of passage ceremony. In the mid 18th century it was introduced int English speaking country's at the behest of the British medical profession for medical reasons, to stop boys from masturbating. masturbation was held responsible for diseases ranging from syphilis to insanity. from then on it was hard to stamp it out as pediatricians were making good money from it.

∙ 10y agoNo, there is no greater risk of getting a sexual transmissible disease from an intact penis. Suggestions to the contrary are likely unsubstantiated nonsense put out by USA pro circumcision interests. There is in fact no evidence at all of intact cultures like those in educated and industrially developed Europe for example having a higher rate of STD's. Instead, the USA which boasts the highest rate of nonreligious circumcision in any first world country, also boasts the highest sexually transmitted disease rate. The foreskin protects the penis against disease and damage. The only doubt that there is about this is in the case of some yest infections. These are however easily avoided and treated without the traumatic ordeal of amputating an important and super sensitive part of the penis.
It is possible to be more likely to get certain diseases (yeast and wart infections) when you are uncircumcised. A guy who doesn't regularly peel the foreskin back could be masking cancer. But any extra risk can be mostly prevented by regular cleaning and inspection of the inside of the foreskin and the glans. The cleaning of the foreskin takes little or no care or at least no more care then washing the rest of your body. When the foreskin is fully retracted, the glans rinses off easily.

Check with the AMA or the college of pediatricians for agreement on this. especially those of countries out side of the US where there is no vested interest.
