at any time by 1: purchasing a new one and just simply putting your sim card in to it as the contract is carried on the sim along with the mobile number. make sure it is compatible with your network.
2: if out of contract contact your service provider ie: t-mobile, orange etc and request a new one for free, clearly stating you are happy with your current contract but merely want a new handset. they will tie you in again for minimum term ie: 12 or 18 months. aldepending on the device you request will aldepend on if free or you have to pay a small cost.
