Yes, there are new features that allow that in the newest version of both IM systems.
Yes, if you both have the most updated version of them.
Ok well Yahoo mail is mail. Your average mail. Just like gmail and aol. Yahoo Messenger is like aim or any other chat version of aim. If you go on MEEBO.COM you will see you can sign into many chats such as yahoo messenger or aim. Get it?

UNFORTUNATLY, i am pretty sure you cant. Yahoo only limites you to the people that you email, or have in your email-adress book. It also only limits you to only people that uses Yahoo as well. Also, Unlike GMAIL, if you have an AIM account, It dosent allow you to sign on as that. With GMAIL, you can sign on with your AIM, YAHOO, OR GMAIL instant messaging account.
There is Yahoo messenger, MySpaceIM, Trillion, Miranda IM, AOL Instant Messenger, Google Talk and many more. Skype can also be used as a free messenger.
You can use meebo. On that site you can log onto aim, msn, messenger, yahoo messenger, etc.
AOL's AIM and Yahoo do not share systems for instant messaging. A Yahoo account should be created and used with a supported instant messaging software (such as Yahoo! Messenger). AIM and .Mac (or I suppose MobileMe) work together. Yahoo and Windows Live work together.
Aim, Yahoo Messenger
AIM is AOL Instant Messenger, a chat program on the internet. A screen name is the ID you use for this chat feature.
yes you can.
No. At the moment, Gmail only supports AIM.
