The S button on top of the gear shifter stands for sport mode. it makes the car shift smother in faster take off
The "s" button is the sport mode, changes the shift points for better acceleration.
Just slide the gear shifter into the "M" position and you''re in sport mode. The car will still shift automatically, but it does so at a much higher RPM. If you press a tap shift button, you will enter "manual" mode and you'll have to do all the upshifts yourself.
sport
If a Mazda 6 with the Sport Mode feature (shows as M on the shifter) won't go into drive, can it be safely put into M to be driven? How far can it be driven in M without having to shift into another gear?
that usually means that there is a short in the control witch or the box itself is bad, either way with it removed or not the car can still move, but leave it long enough like that you wont be able to shift gears, for me i just removed the cable itself from the shifter. so no sport drive.
It is the Sport Mode for the transmission which charges the shift points. You may have inadvertently turned it on. Should be a button on the shifter to turn it off. Now if you cannot turn it off, it indicates a problem with the transmission.
Sport mode changes the shift points and shift timing under partial throttle to keep the car in each gear longer, which is good for passing or highway driving.
There is a button on the side of the shifter by your thumb.
The sport mode changes the shift points on the transmission.
No...there are Hondas that are either auto or sport shift that have VTEC motors too.
If the light stays on solid, then the sport mode is engaged on the car. Located on the side of the gear shifter is a button, it activates the sport mode. Sport mode allows the transmission to shift gears at higher RPM's increasing your acceleration rate but decreasing your MPG.If the light blinks, then the car is having transmission issues with higher gears. Get the car to a mechanic ASAP
