yes they can
Yes, You can fry chicken in fish fry oil, as long as the oil itself is not expired and in need of being discarded. If the oil has been used to cook lots of fish, the cooked chicken will taste of fish. One caution about using the same oil . . . Many people are allergic to seafood and the allergens would be transferred to non-seafood items that are cooked in the same oil. Even a person who is allergic to shrimp could end up with an allergic reaction if their hush puppies were fried in the same oil as some shrimp.
Yes. I make it with just butter, cooking oil, garlic and shrimp. It's good. Over medium-high heat - Melt one and a half sticks of butter and 1/4 to 1/2 cup Crisco Oil. When the butter & oil are melted and bubbly - Add 5 cloves of garlic minced very small. Add the shrimp. Cook and stir until all of the shrimp turn pink. I use the 1/4 cup oil for one pound of shrimp. More oil if I have more shrimp.
I fry it (the fillets) very lightly in very hot oil.
If shrimp is not cooked, it will be a grey color. If uncooked, cook until shrimp turns pink, plus one minute. If shrimp is pre-cooked, cook until it has been heated through.
yes it does use the same oil
