Why are some of the folders labeled with icons?

Most operating systems will show a thumbnail that suggests the type of contents of the folder, such as movies, pictures, or documents. This allows users to distinguish between folders visually instead of having to read the name of each folder. This can make it easier to navigate a file system than just reading the names of the folders when all folders have the same icons.

What is different between a file and a folder?

A folder holds a set of files ----- in IT a file (like a .doc document) holds user data, while a folder is a place where a number of files can be grouped for convenience (like 'my documents'). Folders can also hold other folders making the whole storage structure a tree. BY JOHN KARL VIDALLO BAUTISTA

What is an active folder?

Active Folder is an application that will ease the access to your favoritefolders by providing yiu access to files significantly quicker than usual.Just add your most visited folders and files to its list, and you will have them waiting for direct accessin context menu of Open/Save dialog. If used from system tray, Active Folder will automatically openWindows Explorer in desired folder or start an applicationassociated with chosen file.Active Folder is a simple utility that can save you loads of time.It is designed to solve the problem of quick and easy access to themost important folders. Now you just need to add them once tothe Active Folder's list and afterwards have them ready for direct access.Right-click on any folder or file within Explorer willshow you a context menu with Active Folder as a new option that leadsdirectly to the list of folders you have chosen before.Besides, that list contains two more options: Add and Activate for addingnew folders to the list, and Settings for maintaining the list and changingapplication's behaviour. If you wish, you can, in the same way,use Active Folder within Open/Save dialogs! Now the best part. Whatever we said about folders works for files too! So,your quick access list can contain frequently used documents together withdesired folders, and why not, try adding some applications' executive files tocomplete the list, and use Active Folder as a quick launch utilityfor either folders, documents or applications. Active Folder does not haveto stay hidden under context menu.Let it run in system tray and have it available all the time for the quickestpossible access to your folders and files. You are not limited with numberof folders or files that you can add to the list, but you can limit the numberof items that will be displayed in context menu. Put the most importantitems on top of the list, and access the rest through More.. option thatwill show up when necessary.

How do you prevent others from seeing photos on your computer?

Create a 'Private Folder', this you can password protect to restrict access. The Instructions below are taken from Windows XP Help files; To make your folders private # Open My Computer. # Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive (C:), unless you have more than one drive on your computer). If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive. # Double-click the Documents and Settings folder. # Double-click your user folder. # Right-click any folder in your user profile, and then click Properties. # On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box. Notes * To open My Computer, click Start, and then click My Computer. * This option is only available for folders included in your user profile. Folders in your user profile include My Documents and its subfolders, Desktop, Start Menu, Cookies, and Favorites. If you do not make these folders private, they are available to everyone who uses your computer. * When you make a folder private, all of its subfolders are private as well. For example, when you make My Documents private, you also make My Music and My Pictures private. When you share a folder, you also share all of its subfolders unless you make them private. * You cannot make your folders private if your drive is not formatted as NTFS.

System32 is needed by your computer. Removing will disable your computer. Unless you are very confident in paring out unwanted folders in System32, it's best to leave it alone. I'm not aware of any limit, except in terms of how much memory your computer can handle. If you are storing Bitmaps in all of your folders, the memory will fill up a lot faster than if you are storing text documents.
