If the check engine light is flashing with the engine running that means that an engine cylinder misfire has been detected . You can still drive it in for repair , just avoid any rapid acceleration or deceleration because you can damage the catalytic converter
Take it to Autozone and have it read the codes if it is OBD2 (1996 and newer) if not to see if the check engine light is related to the speedometer problem disconnect the negative battery cable and hold the brake down for about a minute. This should turn the check engine light off. If it does drive it to see if the speedometer works. If it does they are related somehow, if it still doesn't then it must be two separate problems.
most likely a vacuum leak.....check the pcv valve hose It may have a rip in it or be collapsed.....Actualy, I've done nothing to it, and there's no whisling any more, but "check engine" still went on, after driving it for 15 min. ----------------------------- Get the SES Code. That will tell you specifally what is wrong. Otherwise we are guessing in the dark. With an SES code it will help in guiding you in the right direction
The transmission will not shift properly if you try to disable the odometer. The check engine light and abs light will also come on.
no you will blow the engine. get it fixed
Yes, they still do the FREE computer check. I just called in CA and the answer was "Not in California"
NO get it fixed or you will be replacing an engine $$$ Soon.
To reset the check engine light unplug the battery for 30 minutes. If the issues still persists the light will still light up when reattached.
Yeah, it can. If something is wrong with your emmision control system, your car can still fail emmisons, but the check engine light doesn't have to be on.
Yes, but only for a short period of time. Sometimes nothing is wrong but other times there is. I would suggest that you get to a mechanic asap just in case.
Check the engine oil, sometimes when the oil is low the check engine light comes on while sitting still and goes out when you accelarate.
VTEC may or may not work when the check engine light is on. It depends on why the check engine light is one. If it is on because of a problem with the VTEC system, then, no, it will not work properly.
