Yes, crohns left untreated and unmanaged can cause you to die. Mortality rates for crohns patients is under 5% when managed and treated. Much higher when not.

Secondary infection, is a major cause for deaths, notably post operative and from suppressed immune systems.

Yes . Most people do not die from Crohn's Disease however.

Crohn's disease can have many complications and people can die from them.

Bowel blockages, infections, post operative infections, severe dehydration and/or malnutrition compromise the immune system and can lead to death.

In most cases, Crohn's is well controlled with medication and patients live long lives.

My father had Chrohn's disease and he passed away in 1998 at the age of 41. His death certificate says chrohns as the cause of death. But since his passing I can honestly say that they (scientist, doctors. etc.) have come a long way in just even the basic knowledge of Chrohns disease and helpful medicines etc. My uncle his brother also has it but he hasn't been sick in nearly 15 years. He just eats right and takes whatever medicine they have been giving him. So every person handles the disease differently and death is not always the outcome from having this disease.

In one word, no. You can't die from Crohn's unless you don't get it treated and inder control. It is possible to die from certain complications and flare-ups, but most likely, you won't.
