Also it maxes out at 16 GB a drive. So it formats your external usb drive and puts 16 GB aside with 512 MB system data.So even if you connect a 250 GB,1TB drive it still will only allow the xbox 360 to use 16 GB.You can only use up to two usb drives at the same time. So about 32 GB total at the same time. Microsoft doesn't want people to use too much from a harddrive that's not theirs.
You cannot use a USB hard drive, however you can use USB Flash drives between 1GB and 16GB.
