The federal regs state that you're not even supposed to be in actual physical control of a CMV if you don't have at least a learner's permit appropriate to the class of vehicle. Some states allow an exception to vehicles operated on private property, in spite of the federal law. At this time, I'm unable to find anything regarding CT's law on this. Even if the state does grant such an exemption, one needs to check the insurance policy, which may be declared void if an accident is caused by an unlicenced operator, even if on private property in a state which has such an exemption in their log books.
The state of Iowa requires you to possess a Class D (chauffeur) licence with Endorsement 1 in the instance you're describing. You're not required to have a Class A CDL for a registered farm vehicle.

Not on the street. You can only ride it on your own private property. Good luck
With permission of the owner of the vehicle and the property, you could do so without legal consequences. However, if you did something to damage that vehicle or caused damage to property with that vehicle, insurance would reject the claim.
