You can eat salmon out of the can IF the can says its already cooked. If so, it will usually say "ready to eat" or something like that (like tuna).
Whether canned salmon is wild or farmed depends on where the fresh salmon comes from. Some canned salmon is wild caught, some is farmed. The label on the can should say which.

For one: Ew, that sounds like a terrible idea. And two: if the recipe calls for smoked salmon, it needs that smokey taste to it, which canned salmon does not have. If however it prefer the taste of cat food, then by all means, go for it.

You can make a wicked pasta salad with drained canned salmon. Canned salmon is also nice in a cream sauce on rice - brown or white. You can use it as a sandwich filling similar to tuna salad, or put it on plate with a couple of leaves of lettuce and tomato slices for an individual salad. Are you hungry yet?
