Chicken, indeed all flesh of beast and fowl- is taboo on fast days in Lent- Chicken of the Sea- that is, Tuna, and other fishfood- is Okay. For many years this applied to ALL fridays- and such terms as Fisheaters and Mackeral snatchers were derisive terms for Catholics. My Dad ( a Lutheran) heard the term applied to his boss, one Mr. Hoffmann- (They say Mr. Hoffmann is a mackeral snatcher ( Dad knew Hoffmann was an avid fishing fan and indeed the president of the Anchor Club!- so two fish facts rolled into one, Cast Your Nets wide....

i think so... its only red meat that you cant eat.. you can also eat fish :) Wrong. Chicken is meat in terms of Friday abstinence. Fish and other seafood is not forbidden. chicken is fine, it only states that you can't or are not meant to eat RED meat on no meat Friday there is nothing written anywhere that says you can't eat chicken especially since the flesh of a chicken is white not red.
