Close family members can usually trust each other completely because family is a matter of "self preservation." Parents protect their children and grandchildren so their genes can continue through the generations.

You can CHOOSE to trust someone completely. However, if that someone doesn't have your well-being in mind, as much as his or her own, then be careful with your heart.

What is an intimacy disorder?

Its usually something a person can develop from having trust issues. If a person has been hurt or abused in the past they tend to put up walls around them selves to protect them from getting hurt by getting too close or intimate with someone. It usually takes alot of time with someone new to gain their trust with them and even then without therapy it can be impossible for that person to ever be completely comfortable being intimate with anyone.
