They actually do bite!!! I don't think they are poisonus so, it should be okay and they have pretty small mouths so I assume it will not hurt so much! You never really know because they eat blood worms and shrimp, but, I think it would be fine. Check with your fish supplier, though- just incase!!! Natalie01

∙ 13y agoYes,they can.But only if you put two male or two female Betta fish together.One will try to kill the other,or at least badly injure it.But if you plan to breed,then you can put one male Betta and one female Betta together,since they are of different genders.Only a pair of Bettas that are the same gender will fight each other,since they are highly territorial.
Males will fight each other...that part of this answer is correct, but females will not fight each other...i have had 3 females in a tank together and they did not hurt each other. I asked my local pet store if they were ok to be together and they said yes. Therefore, if you do not believe me ask the individuals at your pet store!

∙ 6y agoYou should not fight your betta fish, as it's considered animal cruelty, and is therefore illegal. But male betas will attack one another if you put them in the same tank.

The Betta fish runs away when facing another Betta because its the first time facing another one. Or its just scared of it and doesn't want to fight since its not use to it and its a FIGHTING fish. But once its use to it the other Betta they well start getting up close to each other face to face and start ripping out each others fins out and basically trying to kill each other chasing each other around.
