No. Something like that would only exist as some special experimental instance, if it could even exist at all. There's nothing made in production like that, the reason being that the gasoline internal combustion engine and the diesel internal combustion engine use two totally different methods of igniting the fuel and air mixture to produce power and also the amount to which the fuel and air mixture is compressed - called the compresion ratio - is very different.

A gas engine uses spark plugs to achieve the ignition whilst the diesel engine does this a little differently: it uses the heat produced from its much higher compression to ignite its fuel.

Another factor in deciding which type of engine to use to power a vehicle is fuel economy: diesel engines have the highest thermal efficiency of any engine, which is why so many vehicles, including both cars and trucks, now use diesel because of better fuel mileage.

However gasoline engines do still have certain advantages - such as better acceleration and that they are much lighter in weight than diesels - so diesels have not (yet) completely replaced gasoline engines!

Where can you find a 1960's model ford pickup with a diesel motor in it?

Diesel engines were not a factory option until the late 70s, so if you find a 60s pickup with a diesel, it has been switched after it left the factory. Installing a diesel engine in a 60s model Ford pickup would not be the easiest conversion, but it could be done. Motor mounts would probably have to be fabricated, and you would probably have to change out the transmission, also. Best to find an engine/transmission combination that has already been proven to work together. The other consideration is finding a diesel engine with the horsepower and torque necessary for the truck.

How do you find diesel adulteration?

If there is adulteration in diesel, you will gt late throttle response. There will be ignition delay. A good diesel gives wafer crisp power delivery & quick throttle response. Good quality diesel gives excellent low end torque & strong pulling power from lower RPM. As per obsevation of Multijet engine of FIAT :- In multijet engine, good quality diesel burns with clattery sound on idle. In multijet engine ,at cold start ,Adulterated diesel gives diesel clatter but diesel clattter disappears when engine goes to operating temp. In multijet engine at full operating temperature diesel clatter disappears & engine revs like petrol engine without sound of diesel clatter.

What is the cost of a Detroit diesel engine?

It depends. First you have to determine the series of your engine (i.e. series 60, 8v71, Series 50, 16V92, etc.). Next you have to find the serial # of your engine. Now you can call your local Detroit Diesel dealer with that info and request a price quote for an identical replacement to your engine. These engine swaps can be very costly and there are many alternatives to getting an engine up and running. You can also have a diesel engine repair shop rebuild your diesel engine at a fraction of the cost of swapping out the engine entirely. Sometimes something as simple as switching out your bearings or your piston rings can improve performance dramatically. Then there are times when your pistons and liners are blown and buying an entire diesel engine overhaul kit and rebuilding the engine is necessary. As long as your block is still good you can always rebuild your engine and if your block is cracked you can always try to find a good used block locally and have it rebuilt. A good place to find diesel engine rebuild parts is:Detroitdieselmiami - They carry pistons, liners, ring-sets, bearings and gaskets in pre-assembled diesel engine rebuild kits. They service Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Caterpillar, International/ Navistar, Komatsu, John Deere, Perkins and many others. They have a friendly and knowledgeable staff that can help you properly identify the parts needed for your engine. They service all diesel applications: on-highway, marine, industrial power generation and heavy machinery as well as agricultural. What happens when you put unleaded gasoline in a carburated diesel truck?

Diesels never had a carb, they are all injected in some form or fashion. If you were to run a diesel with a high concentration of gasoline, you will find it does not run well if at all, and it can cause damage to the injection pump.

Can you find a half-ton pick-up truck with a V6 diesel engine?

No, you can not find a half-ton, V6 diesel. There are none currently on the market, at least none that are factory made. 2014 will be the first production year a half-ton pick-up truck will be factory fitted with a V6 diesel engine. Chrysler will introduce the new Dodge Ram 1500 with a half-ton, V6 diesel engine in the third quarter of 2013.
