The Stevens Model 59B was made by Savage Arms from 1937 until 1967. This is an excellent model and many are still in excellent working order still today.
I originally received mine at age 8 in 1963 and it was used at that time but still works great.

In excellent condition they are valued anywhere from $100 to $200. Very Good condition is $75 to $150, good between $50 and $100. Anything less than good is limited to sentimental value or $20 to $40 as a parts gun.
1950's. correction: Sears sold this model, [actually stevens/savage models 39a,59a,59b,&59c], from around the early 1940's through the 1950's, and possibly into the 1960's and/or 70's.

The model 39A had a cast trigger guard and the front screw holds the receiver to the stock. The models 59's all have a stamped trigger guard that is held in place with wood screws. The take-down screw is in front of the trigger guard. The model 59B has a black forend tip.

The Sister Roux Nursing Home est. 1910 was an unregistered "Nursing Home" located at 59a and 59b Fort Street, Bulawayo, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). It was, until about 1960, a Maternity Clinic. Sister Roux was the midwife, who, until doctors appeared in Bulawayo, the only Bulawayo maternity option. Literally thousands of babies were born there. She lived in the adjacent building 59b and was on call 24/7. In 1960 she passed away. The Lady Rodwell and Mater Dei hospitals took over the maternity intake. The buildings fell into disuse and are today 2009, settled with squatters.
