As with everything else, sometimes you can, sometimes you can't. Doesn't hurt to try..
You replace the engine.
A cracked "engine housing" probably means a cracked block. Very not good. A new engine will most likely be required to fix the problem, as a cracked block is next to impossible to repair.
I'm not sure, but I have a cracked corner on a glass block that I plan to use clear epoxy to fix. I will let you know how that works!
If your referring to the engine block, the motor has to be replaced. If your refering to a cracked head, the head has to be replaced. Contact a service technician you can trust. a cracked block cannot be repaired. The only option is to replace the engine.
use a epoxy.
Sorry that's terminal is no fix.
It would depend on where and why it cracked and it may not be repairable or worth repairing. You may want to consider locating a good used block or purchasing a reconditioned short block.
Sometimes, depending on the severity of the engine, the block can be plugged or welded. Most of the time it would be quicker or even cheaper to get a used or rebuilt engine.
If it's cracked, it might be made of fiberglass, or plastic. Fiberglass patch or two part epoxy.
Depends on where it is cracked. If it is a small crack, J.B. Weld, found at any hardware store, can be used as a quick and temparary fix. Otherwise it would be better to get a new block altogether.
It can be done but unless the block is rare or an antique, it isn't worth it. Buy a new or good used block to replace the cracked one.
There is no permanent fix for a cracked block except replacement. There are some things that will get you some extra time, but due to the pressure and vibration of an engine nothing lasts and more time causes even more damage.
