It is not a good idea to begin cooking it while it is frozen. The fish will be overcooked on the outside and possibly still frozen or raw inside. Place the frozen fish in a sealed plastic bag. Place the bag in tap water. It will expedite the defrosting process.

Can you freeze a salmon loaf after cooking?

I'm not certain about what recipe you used. I made a salmon loaf which was primarily mashed poached fresh salmon, butter and bechamel sauce to which I'd added heavy (double) cream. It froze and defrosted perfectly. If your salmon loaf contains gelatine and is more of a mousse texture ie more liquid - you may have problems. Hope this helps!

If it is smoked then it is no longer raw... Its just cold. It is ok to eat cold smoked salmon. Smoking the fish actually makes it keep longer. In most cases it is ok to eat salmon raw as well... But it has to be fresh, never frozen and obviously not rotten at all.
