== == Red Mange is an expensive disease to deal with and a lot of heavy duty vet bills. The life expectancy of the dog with Red Mange is shortened. I live in British Columbia, Canada and GOOD BREEDERS will give you your money back within 6 months and sometimes up to a year. IT IS the breeders responsibility, but not after seven years. If you are a true pet lover then if possible stick this out as best you can for your pet's sake. If you can't then you are going to have to talk about other alternatives with your vet. There are some foster homes where people will take in such pets. Ask your local ASPCA or Animal Shelters. Your vet may be a good source of information regarding someone very special who will take pets in with problems. In the UK the answer would be no you can't get your money back. As soon as you pay the money you have accepted the condition of the dog. Therefore you should always check things out before (as far as possible). It is always a case of buyer beware. Answer Red mange is more prevent in pure breed dogs. I don't know what the usual terms of buying a dog from a breeder are concerning returning a dog. I can tell you this. I had a golden retriever a few years ago. She had red mange. Getting rid of it was not as difficult or as expensive as the first person who answered your question makes it sound. I have a friend who is a veterinarian who told me that treatments are even better than they were a few years ago when I had my dog with red mange. I did have to shave my dog to get rid of the mange. I also put the dip in a spray bottle. It was much easier and economical to 'dip' her this way. It did take a couple of weeks to get rid of the mange. But we did get rid of if. She got very sick when she had the mange, but she got better. Another note, when you help an animal that has a serious problem like red mange, you usually end up with the most loyal animal you could ask for. If you have had a dog for 8 months and you are ready to get rid of it over something that can be treated, you probably haven't bonded with that animal. Maybe you shouldn't have pets. I have to agree with the above poster. If I had a dog with red mange or any other disease that I'd even had for a week I wouldn't take the dog back to the breeder. Trying to get your money back or at least make the breeder responsible for the vet bills is one thing, but a true pet owner would never give their dog back. My male Cockapoo had a heart murmur when he was a puppy and there was no way we were giving him back. We took him to our own vet immediately and she thought he'd out grown it which he has. Look your pet in the eyes and honestly ask yourself if you can give us this loyal friend of yours. Perhaps look in the mirror at yourself and realize your pet loves you no matter what race you are, what you look like, etc. That's true loyalty! You sure won't get that from the majority of humans.

What is the external parasite that causes mange?

The external parasite that causes mange is the mite. Mites are arachnids, eight-legged arthropods that are related to ticks. Like all arthropods, mites have a hard exoskeleton, a segmented body and jointed legs. There are several different forms of mange, each caused by a different species of mite. For instance, demodectic mange is caused by mites of the species Demodex. Scabies, which is also known as sarcoptic mange, is caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. Otodectic mange, caused by Otodectes cynotis, is the most commonly seen mite-related disease in veterinary medicine. Otodectes cynotis are more frequently referred to as ear mites.
