Itall depends on the horse. some are more jumpier than others. you have to comfert them while doing it by saying good girl or boy easy your ok. and letting them know its ok and that they shouldn't be scared. If you are not experianced with horses don't do it by yourself and always have someone holding the horse while you are bathing it.

you would have to wash them with warm water and they hate getting thir face wet

Well yes, but it depends on how cold it is. If it's not chilly or windy you can probably give the horse a regular bath. If it's cold I suggest the hot towel method. You use rubber gloves to protect your hands then fill up a bucket with steaming hot water and dip a towel into the water and ring it out. Then scrub the horse until the towel is completely covered in dirt and the horse is clean. you may have to use several towels to do this. Once clean cover the horse with a cooler and if you have them use those extra absorbent towles to soak up as much water as possible, then keep the horse covered and inside until completely dry.

This will depend greatly on your climate and if you show your horse. If you do not show your horse and he is not clipped it can be problematic to bathe them, so once a month in very cold weather should do. You can use the hot towel method to bathe a shaggy horse to prevent him from getting a chill. If however you show and your horse is clipped you'll need to do a full bath once every two weeks or so. Make sure you remove all excess water from the coat and if possible, rub the horse down with absorbent microfiber towels, then place a fleece or wool cooler over the horse and walk him until he is dry. Never let a damp horse sit still in cold weather.

Well it depends if you horse is in a barn and if your going to be showing it in shows because if you are going to be showing it then yes because you want it to be clean, but if you horse is just in a field and you just ride it around you shouldn't wash it but you can brush it all you want because if you wash it then it is just going to go and roll around and get dirty again! I hope this gave you good advice

A horse can be bathed as long as the temperature is above 60 degrees, although they should not be bathed more than necessary as the coat loses natural oils.

Does horse soap help on their skin?

Soap helps get the dirt and sweat off the horse's body. It does help their skin, but you shouldn't give a horse a bath too frequently. Giving a horse a bath say, once a week, would irritate the horse's skin making it itchy and dry. I give my horse a bath once a month, or once every two months depending on the season.
