Dr. P. R. Sreemahadevan Pillai is now working as the Professor & Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, N.S.S. College of Engineering (a fully government aided college established in 1960), Palakkad, Kerala, India; Dean-Faculty of Engineering of the University of Calicut (the biggest Government sector University in Kerala, affiliating 440 colleges) and as the Dean, L.B. International School of Habitat Studies of the Department of Housing, Government of Kerala. He is also holding the posts of Member-Senate, Chairman-Board of Studies and Chairman-Board of Examiners of the University of Calicut. He has been attached to the N.S.S. College of Engineering, Palakkad from1983. He also worked on deputation/leave for 7 years as the Principal of KSRTC Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, P.E.T. Engineering College, Vallioor and P.A.A. College of Engineering and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram.

He took B. Tech degree in Civil Engineering with Honours and Rank from the University of Calicut, M. Tech degree in Structural Engineering from I.I.T., Bombay, Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Annamalai University, Certificate in Sanskrit from the National Sanskrit Institute (Deemed University) and Ph. D in Civil Engineering from the University of Calicut through REC (now NIT), Calicut. He has authored 9 books in different subjects and scores of technical papers and general articles as well as poems in journals and periodicals. He is Ph.D guide / examiner for many Universities. Many of his talks on technical and general topics have been broadcasted in the All India Radio and telecasted in TV. He was the Chairman of the Palghat Centre and was the all India committee member of the Institution of Engineers (India), the biggest professional body in Asia. He is also the office bearer of more than two dozens professional and voluntary organizations at national, state and regional level. He is a member of the Board of Governors of many educational institutions and industrial organizations. He is the technical advisor / consultant to many organizations in the government and private sector, including Nirmithi Kendra, Tourism Promotion Council, Planning Board, Coir Board etc. He received Netherlands government funded fellowship for research on solid waste management. He has delivered more than 2500 invited lectures on different topics. His wife Prof. Hema Nalini is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the N.S.S. College of Engineering and they have two children, Siddhi (Ph.D Scholar, IIT, Delhi) and Siddharth (4th year MBBS student).
